PANAJI: Marching towards promoting organic farming, the Dr Pramod Sawant led government has formed 40 village level clusters, comprising 900 farmers from Salcete and Mormugao.
The government is promoting organic farming under the Central government’s Paramparaghat Krishi Vikas Yojana. The aim is to create awareness about cultivating crops organically without the use of pesticides.
In a press statement issued by CMO, it is said that 40 village level clusters have been formed in Salcete and Mormugao, encompassing 200 hectares of agricultural land in each cluster.
Total 900 farmers are engaged in organic farming.
It said that agricultural land, encompassed in each cluster is with organic certification.
The government is confident that the farmers will be able to fetch better prices for organically certified products.
