PANAJI: Official announcement of the much awaited 6th National Ranking Roller Skating Championship, scheduled for May 16–19, 2024, came from the Skating Association of Goa (SAG). The news was revealed at a press conference that took place at Margao, Goa’s SGPDA Ground.
President Milind Naik Dessai, who also serves as the joint secretary of the Roller Skating Federation of India (RSFI), extended a warm greeting to distinguished representatives of the organization, such as Secretary Naresh Kumar Sharma, Vice President Kishore Bhandari, Vice President RSFI, and Vice President Prem Sabastin. Local dignitaries such as SAG Secretary Mario Gomes and Vice President Satish Shetye were also present.
President Dessai thanked RSFI for giving Goa the chance to host this esteemed competition and disclosed an astounding fact: more than 1250 skaters from all over India have registered for the championship. This represents the largest number of registrations for a roller skating event in recent memory, demonstrating the sport’s expanding appeal and fervor across the nation.
On May 16, the championship will begin with races in the morning at 6 a.m., and conclude with a grand opening ceremony at 5 p.m. that same day. With Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa, Govind Gaude, the Minister for Sports, Subhash Fal Dessai, the Minister for Social Welfare, the Chairman of the SGPDA, and the MLA of Vasco in attendance, the ceremony is expected to be a distinguished event.
President Milind Dessai expressed sincere appreciation to the Chief Minister and all other dignitaries for their steadfast support and direction in enabling this occasion. In addition, he expressed gratitude to RSFI for allowing him to host what promises to be an exciting and unforgettable championship for roller skating fans all over the country.
