PANAJI: While stating that the development measures in Budget 2025-26 span across various sectors focusing on Garib, Yuva, Annadata and Nari, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the Budget is pro-people especially middle class and tries to cater to requirements of all the sectors of economy and is a visionary step in direction of Vikasit Bharat 2047.
“Tax slabs have been revised and now there will be no Income Tax for income upto Rs. 12 lakhs. TDS and TCS process has also been rationalized. Also, FM will place a new Income Tax Bill in the next week which will simplify the tax process and reduce compliance burden on citizens,” he added
He said that the devolution in central taxes in FY 2025-26 has increased to Rs. 5,490.62 crores as against Rs. 4,967.33 crores in RE 2024-25 showing an increase of Rs. 523 crores.
“Union Finance Minister has also accepted our request to continue Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (50 years interest free loans) in next FY 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs. 1.50 lakh crores. In this Financial Year, the State has availed this special assistance to the extent of Rs. 1,185.17 crores till January,” he added
Sawant said that Goa gets allocation of Rs. 482 crores for Konkan Railway and South Western Railway works in Goa which includes Station Development, new lines, doubling and other miscellaneous activities.
He said that announcement of upgradation of Top 50 tourism destinations in collaboration with the States is also expected to be beneficial for Goa being a tourism State. Increase in MUDRA loan limits for Homestays will also be beneficial for Goa.
“Goa has also the opportunity to promote ‘Heal in India’ Medical Tourism in view of announcement to promote Medical Tourism with easier visa norms.Goa will try to explore benefits under the announcement of Support for Air Cargo in order to promote Goa as logistics hub and two operational airports,” Sawant added
