MAPUSA: A 29-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly touched a woman inappropriately while she was standing in a crowd near Rastroli Temple at Sim, Khorlim, Mapusa, police said.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 9 pm on September 5, 2026, near Rastroli Temple in Khorlim, Mapusa, Bardez.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly took advantage of the crowded surroundings and knowingly and intentionally touched the woman in an inappropriate manner. The complainant alleged that the act was intended to insult her and outrage her modesty and was committed in public view.
The accused was identified as Balaji Dhanaji Chavan, 29, a resident of Karaswada, Mapusa, and originally from Suste, Pandharpur, Solapur, Maharashtra.
Following the complaint, the accused was arrested by police at around 11.02 pm on September 5. Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Ravina Sawtodkar.
