COLVALE:: On Thursday morning, an unidentified car struck and killed a pedestrian crossing the Colvale service road.
After going for a morning stroll, Vinayak Vithu Dhargalkar (78) of Colvale was involved in an accident at approximately 6:30 in the morning. It was an unidentified car that knocked him down. Several drivers saw him hurt as he lay by the side of the road.
He was moved right away to the Mapusa District Hospital, and then a little while after that to the GMC in Bambolim. However, that evening he passed away from his wounds.
According to a post-mortem report, the incident was a hit-and-run. The driver of the unidentified vehicle has been charged by police for striking a pedestrian while driving erratically, failing to stop to assist the injured, and failing to seek medical attention.
