PANAJI: As part of the INDIA bloc alliance, the Congress has announced to contest both -North and South Goa Lok Sabha seats for the upcoming Parliamentary polls.
AAP has declared withdrawal of its candidature from South Goa, where the party had announced the name of MLA Venzy Viegas.
Addressing press conference, AAP’s Amit Palekar & GPCC’s Amit Patkar said that AAP and Congress will merge their votebank in Goa and win both Lok Sabha Polls.
“We call other parties in Goa to join our force to defeat BJP; seat sharing has been worked out during INDI Alliance meet,” they said
They further said that AAP has decided to withdraw in the interest of the alliance and to fight the BJP.
“We want all those MLAs who had asked votes against the BJP in 2022 election should support INDIA Alliance candidate,” Patkar said
Adv Palekar said that RGP had said that they don’t have money to pay the rent but within one or two hours, they announce that they are contesting Lok Sabha election. “It is people to understand,” he said
Patkar also appealed RGP to come with us and we will fight the election together. “I still appeal them to come with INDIA alliance,” Patkar said
AAP will be contesting four seats while Congress will field candidates in three constituencies, Congress MP Mukul Wasnik announced in Delhi.
Congress General secretary Mukul Wasnik said in Delhi, Congress will be contesting in three seats and AAP in four.
“In 26 seats in Gujarat, Congress will contest in 24 and AAP on two – in Bharuch and Bhavnagar. In 10 seats in Haryana, Congress will contest in nine seats and AAP in one, at Kurukshetra,” Wasnik said.
He added that Congress will contest in the lone Chandigarh seat and in both seats in Goa.
AAP candidates will fight in New Delhi, South Delhi, West Delhi, and East Delhi, while Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, and North West Delhi will be contested by Congress candidates.
In the previous two Lok Sabha elections, held in 2014 and 2019, the BJP won all seven seats in the national capital, with a vote share exceeding 50 percent.
AAP will also be contesting for one seat in Haryana (Kurukshetra) and two in Gujarat (Bharuch and Bhavnagar). In Goa, AAP will not be fielding any candidates.
