CANACONA: A resident of Khotigao fell down along with a branch of cashew-tree, while cutting the same and died on the spot at Avem on Sunday morning.
Mono K Velip, 50 while cutting a Cashew Tree branch that was extended towards the unused and an abandoned dead electricity alignment nearby to a Transformer fell down along with that cashew tree branch at Avem in Khotigao village.
The badly injured and in an unconscious state, the man was shifted to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where the doctors on duty pronounced ‘Brought Dead’.
As the man fell on the broken electricity alignment which is a dead and non-energized one and continues to exist near to Transformer which is connected with underground cabling (Power Supply is provided through underground cablings in Khotigao and Gaondongrim villages), people suspected the man was electrocuted, and began to blame the Electricity Department for keeping electricity alignment exposed in the village.
According to sources, even as there is no possibility of getting electrocuted from a Dead or non-energized electricity alignment, there were no signs of electrocution noticed on the body, which could give the slightest hint of electrocution by even outside or unrealistic sources.
The body was, however, referred to Hospicio Hospital for Postmortem, and the autopsy report which came out on Monday stated the death was due to detachment of the spinal cord following the fall from the tree. There is no sign of electrocution, stated a reliable source. Mono Velip is survived by his wife, two daughters (one married) and a Son studying in VII Std.
The body is handed over to the relatives for conduct of final rites, added the sources
