VASCO: Alex Coutinho ( 34 ) who was arrested by Verna police on Wednesday for killing his friend Lionel Lobo at Cortalim has been granted police custody of 8 days
Verna PI Melson Colaco informed reporters on Thursday that the accused had been produced before the JMFC on Thursday
“We arrested the accused Alex Coutinho on Wednesday for his involvement in the murder of his friend, 32-year-old Lionel Lobo. The accused had murdered Lobo by smashing his head using a cement block at the under-construction site at Pajentar in Cortalim on Tuesday evening,” he said.
The accused had confessed to his crime and we had placed him under arrest. The accused was produced before the JMFC on Thursday morning where he was granted eight days of police custody.
“The family of the deceased was informed about the incident and since they were abroad, we had to wait for the post-mortem. The sister of the deceased reached Goa today and the post-mortem of the deceased has been conducted. The body of the deceased will be handed over to his family tomorrow. ” said Colaco.
