PANJIM: Union Minister for Ayush Shripad Naik today was discharged from Manipal Hospital after recovering from COVID-19 infection. He was admitted in hospital on August 12.
Soon after discharge Naik visited the Sai Baba temple at Kadamba Plateau and offered prayers before heading to his residence.
“I am fit, exactly how I was before. I remained in the hospital for a long time. Still I have to take some more rest now. After another 7-8 days of rest I will get back to work. I thank each and everyone who prayed for my wellbeing.” Naik said speaking to reporters outside Manipal Hospital
Naik tested coronavirus positive on August 12 and was initially in-home isolation, but was hospitalized sone days later after his condition worsened. At the Manipal Hospital, the Union Minister was administered high flow nasal oxygen and plasma treatment.
A real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test conducted on Naik (67) showed weak positive result after which a decision was taken to move him to the general ward of the hospital, the official had said.
A team of experts from New Delhi- based AIIMS had arrived in Goa to monitor the medical treatment being given to Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik. The team of specialists from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, consisted of heads of anesthesiology and pulmonary medicine departments.
