Air Customs Officers of Goa, based on intelligence developed by them intercepted an international passenger, who had arrived from Dubai by Air India Flight AI-994 on 21.03.2021 and recovered 03 gold capsules in paste form totally weighing 432 grams valued at Rs.17.39 lakhs, which was concealed in the rectum of the passenger.
The said gold was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Whole exercise was conducted under the guidance of Smt.Juliet Fernandes, Assistant Commissioner (Airport) and Shri.M.S.meena, Joint Commissioner of Customs. Seizure effected under overall supervision of Commissioner of Customs Shri.Mihir Ranjan.
Goa Customs has also seized gold worth Rs.33.09 lakh on 20.03.2021 from another pax arriving from Dubai. Thus within two days total 1.25 kg gold worth Rs.50.5 lakh has been seized.
