Panaji: Amaira Dhumatker, Shaheen C.K. and Anjana Kumari emerged as the standout performers at the BPS State Badminton Ranking Tournament, securing two titles each at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium in Navelim.
Organised by BPS Sports Club in association with the Goa Badminton Association, the tournament witnessed several closely contested finals across age categories.
National bronze medallist Amaira Dhumatker showcased her class in the Girls Under 11 Singles, defeating Anvitha Poojari 15-5, 15-3. Amaira then partnered Anvitha in the Girls Doubles, where the pair defeated Saachi Sinai Kenkre and Yashika Koneru 15-5, 15-2 to complete her double.
Shaheen C.K. also secured two titles. Partnering Aswin Mannambalath, Shaheen won the Men’s Doubles after overcoming Aryaman Saraf and Rudra Phadte 11-15, 15-6, 15-9. Shaheen later teamed up with Dimple Revankar to defeat Sanath Kamat and Anar Singbal 15-11, 6-15, 15-12 in the Mixed Doubles.
Top seed Nishant Shenai claimed the Men’s Singles crown after a tightly fought encounter against Arjun Bhagat, winning 15-12, 16-14.
Anjana Kumari completed her double by defeating top seed Sufiya Shaikh 15-10, 13-15, 15-10 in the Women’s Singles final. Earlier, Anjana and Sufiya had combined successfully in the Women’s Doubles, beating Riya Haldankar and Yasmin Sayed 15-13, 12-15, 15-7.
In the Under 11 category, Sharv Shenvi won the Boys Singles title after defeating Shloke Utagi 15-6, 15-5. Mahipal Sinh Parmar and Priyansh Sawant Dessai took the Boys Doubles crown with a 15-3, 15-6 victory over Namish Revankar and Srihaan Dessai.
The Under 9 competition also produced exciting finals. Rafael De Ataide won the Boys Singles title by beating Divyam Singh 12-15, 15-8, 15-11. Oorvi Khyalia completed a double in the Girls Under 9 events, defeating Samaira Velip 15-6, 15-6 in Singles before partnering Samaira to beat Meher Aghicha and Ranisa Naik 15-4, 15-2 in Doubles.
