MARGAO: Ambelim SC defeated Navelim Sporting 2-1 in the 2nd Fr Bruno Leitao Memorial Cup All-Goa 8-a-side inter-village football tournament organised by the Union of Chinchinim villagers.
In the finals, Navelim Sporting would have scored in the 3min but Ambelim Goalkeeper Benny Silva saved the attempt from Ronaldo Gomes.
In the 8th minute, Benny Silva’s direct kick entered Navelim’s net beating Jeet Gupta to make it 1-0 for Ambelim.
Navelim increased the attack and in the 14th minute, Benny Silva made a goal-line save from an attempt by Prestly Gomes.
In the 21st minute, Asfin pinto dribbled past the defenders as Jeet narrowed the angle Asfin’s attempt missed narrowly.
Half time 1-0
In the 2nd half, Navelim changed the strategy and started attacking from the start, in the 46th minute Wellington Almeida equalised with a clean strike.
In the 51st minute, Ambelim forwards Asfin Pinto and Samson Fernandes combined well with Samson giving the last touch to score to make it 2-1 for Ambelim. In the dying minutes, Benny Silva saved a def
