New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday held a high-level review meeting to assess the security situation along the Indo-Pakistan border and at airports across the country, following a sharp escalation in hostilities between India and Pakistan.
The review came shortly after the Border Security Force (BSF) announced it had successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border in Jammu, neutralizing at least seven terrorists and causing heavy damage to a Pakistan Rangers post.
Sources said the Home Minister evaluated current measures and preparedness along the western frontier and took stock of enhanced security protocols at airports and other key infrastructure. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which is tasked with securing airports and metro networks, also presented its operational status.
Senior officials attending the meeting included Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, and the Directors General of BSF, CISF, and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged in recent days. India carried out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday, prompting retaliatory actions from Pakistan, including drone and missile attacks targeting Indian military facilities, which were effectively countered by Indian armed forces.
