CURCHOREM: The annual procession of Our Lady of Fatima saw a large gathering of devotees as it wound its way from Guardian Angel Church, Curchorem, to Tisk-Sanvordem via the bustling Curchorem and Sanvordem markets on Sunday evening.
Parish Priest Fr. Jose Caetano D’Costa and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Ashliff Correia led the faithful, who carried lanterns, recited the rosary, and sang hymns in devotion.
The procession, which followed the Eucharistic celebration at Guardian Angel Church, was met with a warm welcome at Tisk-Sanvordem, where people of all faiths had gathered.
A beautifully decorated pandal was set up to mark the occasion.
At Sanvordem, Fr. Movin Menezes, Assistant Parish Priest of St.Joseph Church, at St. Jose de Areal, delivered a homily, highlighting the significance of February 2 as the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus.
He urged the faithful to emulate Mother Mary’s compassion and concern for others.
“Understand the pain, agony, and difficulties of others even before they tell you, and help them, just as Mother Mary did at the Wedding of Cana and for her cousin Elizabeth,” he said.
In a moving display of unity, people of all faiths lined up to kiss the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and offer flowers, transcending religious barriers.
The event was a testament to communal harmony and deep devotion, drawing hundreds in prayerful celebration.
