PORVORIM: The government has chosen to construct new campuses for the Goa Architecture College and the Goa Pharmacy College at the Taleigao plateau.
“The Goa University has already identified approximately 2 lakh square meters of land at the Taleigao plateau to build the campus for the Architecture and Pharmacy colleges,” Sawant informed the Goa Legislative Assembly in response to a question about grant requests related to the department of higher education.
He declared that the State government would build these campuses, which would be separate from Goa University.
In addition to a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration with St. Louis College of Pharmacy in the USA, Sawant said the Goa Pharmacy College is operating well and that new post-graduate courses have also been added.
He did, however, acknowledge that his government’s decision to construct a new, contemporary campus was due to the inadequacy of the Pharmacy College that is currently located in Panaji City.
Regarding technical education, Sawant refuted the allegations of opposition MLAs that ninety per cent of faculty positions at the six government polytechnics are occupied.
Additionally, he announced the start of two brand-new post-graduate courses in geotechnical engineering and artificial intelligence and machine learning (ME-AI/ML) at the Government Engineering College in Farmagudi.
Sawant further informed the House that industry placements and hands-on learning are two of the ways that ITIs, Polytechnics, and Engineering College collaborate with industry. **
