Pestarino who was swimming in the middle of the river was struggling to stay afloat and started shouting for help. Luckily for him at that time the Tiracol police Police led by Police Inspector Vikaram Naik, Sub INpsector Yogesh and constables Budesh and Aditya were patrolling the area. They rescued Pestarino, 57 and then gave him medical aid and handed over to his female companion at Kerim Tiracol.
