India has passed Russia as the country with the third-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world after recording a record number of cases for one day. Owing to shortage of staff, the government has decided to recruit medical staff on contractual basis to fight COVID19. “After deliberations with CM Dr. Pramod Sawant, we have taken a decision to recruit new teams on a contractual basis on top priority to designate them at respective Primary Health Centres and Community Health Centres, who will report to the respective health officers,” Rane said. Mormugao Municipal Council councillor Pascoal D’Souza, brother of NCP president Jose Philip D’Souza, succumbed to the COVID19. Pascoal became the 7th victim of the deadly disease in the State. The councillor, of Mangor hill, was admitted in MPT Covid Care Centre and was shifted to COVID hospital at Margao after his condition worsened.
