In a double rescue, two male tourists aged 24 and 27, were rescued earlier today at Vagator beach by Drishti lifeguards Sachin Naik, Rudresh Mahale and Vijay Parab. At 14.55 hrs earlier today at Vagator, two male tourists entered the waters for a swim. The lifeguard on duty requested the visitors to retreat back and return back to shore as the sea conditions were rough. Vagator also has a presence of rocks along the beach stretch which makes it tricky for rescues. The visitors refused to retreat back to safety, hence the lifeguard stayed on guard close to the duo.…

The surge in positive COVID19 cases continues after Ganesh festival with 588 new cases reported on Tuesday alongwith two deaths. The State also registered 273 new recoveries. The confirmed cases have now crossed 18000-mark and are now at 18,006. The active cases are 3962 and recoveries are 13850. The death toll has reached 194, just six short of a double century. Panjim The State government today extended the deadline to renew Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), a cashless insurance scheme, card, till September 30. The renewal process that had begun from July 1 ended on August 31. The renewal is done for the next  policy period from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021. There are 2.9 lakh cardholders in the State covering 10 lakh population. Panjim Months after the government scrapped the Housing Building Advance (HBA) Scheme offered to its employees, the Goa Forward party (GFP) today alleged that the monthly installment deducted towards the scheme has not been deposited in the banks for the last three months.
