PANAJI: BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal is anticipated to go to Goa to preside over the eagerly anticipated Party President election.
On Saturday, a new Goa State President will be named.
At a press conference today, BJP spokesperson Premanand Mhambrey stated that 59 voters, including two Members of Parliament (MPs) and 10% of BJP MLAs, will cast ballots in tomorrow’s election.
He added that seven shortlisted names had been forwarded to the BJP central leadership for approval, and that the new state president would be unveiled on Saturday.
The names of previous ministers Dayanand Mandrekar, Dilip Parulekar, and Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar were shortlisted for the position of the next state party president. Along with former MLAs Dayanand Sopte, Damu Naik, and senior party leader Govind Parvatkar, the list also includes former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar.
According to party insiders, Damu Naik is the most likely candidate for the position.
