PANAJI: The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade today said that the party respect the Supreme Court judgement on the Municipal ward reservation in five Municipalities.
Speaking to reporters, Tanavade, while ruling out that it is a Setback to Government, said that Supreme Court, the highest judiciary has passed its order and we have to respect it.
However, he claimed that the judgement will have no implications on party’s political prospects in these five Municipalities -Margao, Mapusa, Mormugao, Sanguem and Quepem.
Also, we will win March 20 election scheduled in six Municipalities and in Panaji Corporation with complete majority, Tanavade said.
The BJP president said that as directed by the Supreme Court, the government has to undertake fresh reservation in five Municipalities within ten days while the Election process has to be completed by April 30.
Be said that the party has full faith in its voters that irrespective of the judgement, people will vote for BJP backed panel in all 11 Municipalities as well as in Panaji City corporation.
He said that the party backed candidates’s campaign is going on in full swing and people are responding positively. He said that the Ministers and MLAs, from respective areas, are participating in the door to door campaign.
Responding to opposition demand that CM Dr Pramod Sawant should step down over reservation fiasco, Tanavade said that the opposition need to focus in their respective Municipalities rather issuing directions to government.
He said that there is no question of the Chief Minister stepping down and let opposition not tell us what we should do.
