VASCO: Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Sheth Tanavade on Sunday evening said that the BJP South Goa candidates will be finalized in a day or two.
Tanavade was speaking to reporters after attending an international Women’s Day function organised at Sada in the presence of minister Subhash Shirodkar, BJP Mahila Morcha Prabhari Sulakshana Sawant and others
“The election commissioner has already announced the date and phases of the Lok Sabha election and Goa will go into polls in the third phase on 7th May. The party officials are in continuous meetings for the last 2 days and a deciding on the candidates contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from different states,” he said.
Tanavade says that the meetings are held by the central committee members and they will soon decide the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
“While the North Goa candidate has already been declared we are now waiting for the declaration of the South Goa BJP candidate and the final decision will be taken in a day or two,” he said.
“As of now we are exploring all the possible options and we are not sure if the candidate from South Goa will be a female or a male person,” he continued.
While there is news floating about probable candidates, he said, the State BJP is not sure about the names of the candidate that have been taken up for the discussion at the Central level and candidate will finally be decided by the higher authorities.
“As of now all I can say is that the candidate for South Goa contesting on the BJP ticket for the upcoming Lok Lok Sabha elections will be finalized in a day or two,” said Tanavade.
