PANAJI: With the rise in COVID-related deaths, the state cabinet accorded approval to a compensation scheme of ₹2 lakh each for the kin of COVID-19 victims who were sole earning members or came from poor backgrounds.
“Today, the Cabinet has accorded approval to COVID compensation scheme of Rs 2 lakh for the kin of COVID-19 victims who were a sole earning member or came from poor backgrounds,” said CM Sawant
He further said that the Director of Social Welfare has already stated that the eligibility criteria for the scheme include family income of less than Rs 8 lakh and residence in Goa for at least 15 years.
“The eligibility criteria to avail the scheme shall be that the income of the family shall not exceed Rs. 8.00 Lakhs per annum and Minimum Residence shall be 15 years in the State of Goa,” he added
Sawant further said his government was trying its best to tackle the outbreak, and the positivity rate of the infection was steadily declining in the state.
On July 1, 2021, the Government of Goa had notified the Ex-Gratia Financial Assistance scheme to provide a one-time ex-gratia of Rs. 2.00 Lakhs to families of the deceased victim due to Covid-19 infection whose income limit does not exceed Rs. 8.00 Lakhs per annum subject to a maximum of one claim per family.
