Three persons have been arrested by Calangute police in dacoity case for looting tourists on pretext of providing accommodation.
Accused persons namely Ansuman Sharma, Manish Rauthan, Jaideep Duhal, all presently residing at Porvorim have been taken in custody in the above dacoity case.
An offence of robbery was registered at Calangute Police Station today upon the receipt of written complaint of one Girish Narashima Shetty r/o Bengaluru to the effect that on 15/09/2020 at 14.30 hrs, one accused rider of a scooter namely Lalsab Ameen Nadaf@ Malik r/o Mapusa of acting as a tout made the complainant and his three friends who were moving in their car follow his scooter from Dolphin Circle, Calangute to a villa at Porvorim near O Coqueiro circle on the pretext of arranging accommodation and thereafter took them in the villa and further alongwith his friends Manish Rauthan, native of Uttar Pradesh and Jaideep Duhal, native of Haryana assaulted the complainant and his friends.
Further, the accused Anshuman Sharma, native of Delhi forcibly removed cash amount of Rs 1,500 from his wallet and used debit card of the complainant’s friend namely Dheendra and further tapped Rs 8,000 on ATM card swiping machine of the accused person.
Further, the accused persons threatened the complainant and his friends with dire consequences if they complained to the police.
Calangute Police team comprising of PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Sushant Sangodkar, PSI Navin Dessai, Police Constables Vinay Shrivastav, Shasank Sakhalkar, Sindesh Sawant, Lady Police Constable Harsha Padloskar acted swiftly to apprehend the three accused persons.
The modus operandi of the accused persons was to trap the tourists from Calangute to a villa at Porvorim and thereafter loot them.
The accused persons were running a Wellness Spa at Porvorim behind Chodankar Nursing Home and involved in looting of tourists.
A letter is being moved to the SDM, Mapusa for sealing of the premises. PSI Sushant Sangodkar is conducting further investigations in this case under the supervision of PI Nolasco Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Edwin Colaco and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
