CANACONA: As part of the congress party’s State-wide celebrations today, the Canacona Congress celebrated Vanamahotsav by planting trees and various types of fruit-bearing and medicinal plants in various parts of the Canacona constituency.
Canacona congress Block led by President Abel Tome Borges along with Congress workers and well-wishers observed Vana-Mahotsav planting trees and fruit-bearing including coconut saplings at Agonda and various locations in the Canacona constituency.
Led by the South Goa District Congress Committee (Organization) Gen.Secretary Gaspar Coutinho Canacona Congress Block celebrated Van Mahotsav at Agas in the Loliem-Polem panchayat area.
Canacona Congress Mahilla Block President Mrs.Ursila Costa, Jawahar Bal Manch Canacona co-ordinator Mrs.Plaza Cardozo, and many other Congress Members and Villagers attended the programme.
Ursula welcomed the people gathered for the programme, while Gaspar highlighted the importance of planting trees and that after planting the trees should really be taken care of with attention and love.
Mrs Plaza appreciated and thanked everyone for attending the program inspite of heavy rainfall.
Saplings were distributed to the people who attended the program so that everyone who came went back to their respective homes with a plant/sapling in their hand.
The Congress team later accompanied some of the people to the homes and assisted in planting the given sapling in their premises so that the tree would be really taken care of properly.
The distributed saplings also included Avocado, Cinnamon, Lemon, Betel Nut (supari), Kokum and Custard Apple amongst others.
