CANACONA: After almost two months of curfew restrictions in the state, Canacona, with as high as a hundred new cases a day, is now seeing new cases dropped to single-digit since this week, and the day is not far when Canacona will be Covid-19 free at least temporarily till the third wave comes in, feel the general public of Canacona.
Canacona is reporting fresh Covid-19 cases in single digit since this week; after the cases hovered around twenty for the last two weeks, sources at Canacona Health Centre informed.
On Thursday the Health Centre in the taluka released a bulletin which showed that there were only 67 active cases in the taluka, and four were tested positive on the day.
Till Thursday, Canacona reported 3344 cumulative Covid-19 cases out of which 3245 patients recovered while 32 persons succumbed to the deadly disease, informed sources at Canacona Health Centre.
Out of the four who tested positive for the Covid-19 infection on Thursday, each is from Khola and Khotigao, and two are from Canacona Municipal area, sources added.
However, some concerned citizens from the taluka downplayed the figures and said that the danger is still looming large as the invisible virus is still in the air and can strike anyone unaware.
It is in the best interest of everyone to follow the appropriate Covid-19 behaviour to ourselves from this deadly virus, informed Samrat Bhagat, a resident of Char Rasta.
“Everyone coming to Chaudi market is seen wearing masks, but no one is following social distancing, there was not a space to keep one’s foot in the town on last Monday, we can’t let our guard down otherwise the third wave predicted by experts will cause much more deaths, and devastation” Bhagat expressed.
