CHAPORA: A late-night altercation at a bar in Chapora has resulted in multiple injuries, with police registering a case against staff members of the establishment.
The complaint was lodged by 29-year-old Ngaoveine Kyapaomai, a resident of Anjuna, who reported that the incident occurred in the early hours of April 16 between 12:30 am and 3:00 am at a bar in Chapora, Bardez.
According to the complaint, her cousins and their friends, all originally from Manipur and currently staying in Anjuna, were allegedly verbally abused by bar staff after a dispute reportedly triggered by a drink being spilled. The argument soon escalated into violence.
The accused are alleged to have threatened the group using a baseball bat before physically attacking them with fists, glass bottles, a wooden bench, and the bat. One of the victims, a 19-year-old, sustained serious facial injuries, while others suffered comparatively minor wounds.
Police have registered an offence under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and have begun further investigation into the incident.
