VASCO: The Chicalim Panchayat Gram Sabha, chaired by Sarpanch Kamala Prasad Yadav, discussed several critical issues on Sunday. The Gram Sabha expressed strong opposition to the Sunburn festival in South Goa but supported equal status to Romi Lipi
Speaking to media , Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav said that many other issues were discussed during the Gramsabha
“The Gramsabha addressed concerns regarding the sewerage problems caused by buildings near Vishal Mega Mart. The panchayat has taken action by removing unauthorized pipelines draining sewerage water into the nearby nullah. We will also disconnect the power supply if we catch anyone violating rules or dumping sewage in the open. Regarding the stray dog menace, the panchayat has initiated contact with People for Animals (PFA) and is planning to collaborate with NGOs to resolve the issue effectively,” said Yadav
Yadav said that in a bid to enhance green cover, some residents have started planting trees in open spaces in their neighborhoods.
“While the panchayat supports these efforts, we want to clarify that people cannot restrict access to these open areas for others. Plans are underway to develop all open spaces within the Chicalim panchayat area for community use. The Gram Sabha also touched upon the topic of plot development. Once the approvals and NOC from the Planning and Development Authority (PDA) is obtained, site inspections will be conducted to ensure proper road construction and adherence to commitments made by developers. Occupancy certificates will be issued based on compliance with these standards. We want to emphasize the panchayat’s commitment to addressing these issues and enhancing the overall development of the Chicalim area,” added Yadav.
