PANAJI: GPCC leader Girish Chodankar has raised objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the draft voter list released by the Election Commission of India, questioning their legality and constitutional validity.
Chodankar maintained that the electoral roll prepared as of January 1, 2025, and subsequently updated on January 6, 2025, should be treated as the valid basis for conducting elections.
He alleged that drawing up a fresh draft list without complying with the prescribed legal requirements undermines constitutional principles.
The Congress leader further claimed that close to 10 per cent of Goa’s voters had been removed from the list and called for the reinstatement of 1,39,634 deleted names.
He urged the authorities to address the alleged deletions and safeguard the voting rights of eligible citizens.
