Even as there is huge hue and cry over the deforestation at the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary for three projects the State government says it is need of the hour as it will enable state to provide 24×7 power supply.
Speaking on the transmission line for enhanced power to Goa, which is one of three project in the sanctuary, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant says it will help state immensely in future power needs.
“The Transmission line project will enable more than 1200 MW Power exchange between Goa and Karnataka Grid, hence increasing the current power transmission capacity and reliability,” the CM says.
Further, says, the project will also enhance stability of power for Goa State.
“It will also give provision for future expansion to meet the growing energy need of the State of Goa. It will also enhance Goa standing in Govt. of India Mission of “ONE NATION ONE GRID”. It will ensure increased grid reliability with an additional route for power transfer to State of Goa and provide uninterrupted quality power supply during Tourist season,” Sawant says.
The chief minister revealed that as the line will pass through 7 district & 3 States (Goa, Karnataka & Chattisgarh) benefitting lives over 1.25 crores and employment over 10,000 unskilled population from lower economic strata of the region.
“Completion of the project Goa will have access 24×7 power supplies,” CM assures.
