NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has hailed the introduction of live Konkani interpretation in the Lok Sabha as a “proud and historic moment” for Goa and the global Konkani-speaking community.
During his visit to New Delhi today, Dr Sawant met and congratulated Evita D’Souza, Gauri Mavlinkar, and Samiksha Velip on their appointment as Konkani Consultant Interpreters in the Lok Sabha Secretariat. He commended their role in taking Goa’s mother tongue to the floor of the country’s highest democratic forum.
“This is a matter of great pride for all Goans. The live interpretation will strengthen Konkani’s presence nationally and ensure our language reaches every corner,” Dr Sawant said.
Under the guidance of senior interpreter Sharat Krishna Raikar, the trio is undergoing training ahead of the launch on Monday, August 18, 2025, when Konkani interpretation of the entire Lok Sabha proceedings will be broadcast live for the first time in history.
