PORVORIM: The last session of the Seventh Legislative Assembly concluded on Tuesday, and as expected the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant gave several assurances to the people of Goa with an eye on the forthcoming Assembly election in 2022.
In a bid to show one-upmanship over the Opponents, the Chief Minister gave several replies that could be termed as WHITE LIES, which have no relation to reality.
Here Goemkarponn brings to you the CM’s assrances and statements versus the brute reality.
Siddhi Naik’s case reinvestigated, death due to drowning
Sawant said that the police reinvestigated the Siddhi Naik death case, and it was found that Siddhi Naik’s death was due to drowning.
He also said deceased Siddhi Naik was extensively searching for information about the ill effects of Covid on Google.
From Day One the police had investigated the case as drowning; even before the autopsy report was out, the police had declared death due to drowning.
When was the case reinvestigated? Why was the case not given to the Crime branch to reinvestigate? How can the same police station reinvestigate the case?
CMs says there were no wounds, but Siddhi’s father claims in murder complaint that the autopsy report shows three wounds

Goa’s present borrowing limit is Rs 3200 crore and the actual borrowing by the State so far is Rs 1100 crores, which is 34 percent of the permitted limit.
Goa doesn’t need to take the full capacity of borrowing limit.
Goa’s borrowings may be well within the increased limits set by the Union Finance Ministry, but, shockingly, the small State of Goa has debts of nearly Rs 24,000 cr.
The State borrows almost every month for disbursing salaries, support the social security schemes, and pay PWD, GSIDC contractors.

For months the DSSSY beneficiaries have been waiting for their pensions. They have taken several rounds to the Banks but return empty-handed. The same is the situation of Griha Aadhar.
Housewives say the payments come after a delay of three to four months.
56 % of water consumers benefitted from the free water scheme
The free water supply scheme has benefited 56 % of consumers in the State.
People have already started getting zero bills under the OTS scheme, which provided relief to the common person.
The 56 per cent number is just fiction, as the PWD says they are yet to figure out how many people benefited.
In many places, spot billing has to be done.
The actual figure will be known only after two to three months
CM Pramod Sawant said that 10,000 jobs will be advertised by December 19 this year. So far 8,000 govt jobs are already advertised and 2,000 more jobs will be advertised soon, he said.
Recently 700 IRB police jobs have been filled he added.
This is another election jumla. With just under two months remaining for the election code of conduct coming into force, it is impossible to recruit these many posts
Till now, only 2000-3000 posts may have been advertised.
Law and Order situation under control as Goa has 86 % crime detection rate, which is the highest in the country.
Last year, there were 34 murders in the State, and this year, the State has witnessed 16 murders.
Besides, hundreds of rape are reported every year
Goan sisters and daughters are unable to move out at night in their state due to persistent threat from predators
The Goa Police has failed to round up the criminals.
70 per cent eligible population received 2nd jab, target to complete cent per cent by Oct 31
This was yet another statement to get appreciation from BJP High Command and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Thousands of migrant workers are being vaccinated in the State of Goa. Besides, hundreds of tourists are flying to Goa for taking the jab. The CM is also calculating the tourists and workers as Goans.
