New Delhi: In a significant move to address the long-standing issue of high medical costs in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated the government’s commitment to reducing treatment expenses for all citizens. This pledge was made during his visit to Madhya Pradesh, where he laid the foundation stone of the Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute in Chhatapur district. The initiative aims to provide relief to economically weaker sections, who have historically borne the brunt of exorbitant healthcare costs.
PM Modi emphasized the role of Ayushman cards in this endeavor, stating that cardholders aged 70 and above are now entitled to free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. He urged eligible individuals to obtain these cards and encouraged people to report any instances of bribery during the issuance process. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about various welfare schemes offered by the Union government.
During his visit, PM Modi received blessings from religious gurus and offered prayers at Jatashankar Mahadev. He is scheduled to chair a meeting with BJP leaders in Bhopal, where he will share his experiences and provide guidance for the state’s progressive development. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025, which aims to establish Madhya Pradesh as a global investment hub.
The GIS will include specialized sessions on pharmaceuticals and medical devices, among other sectors, and will feature participation from over 60 countries. This summit is part of a broader strategy to enhance economic growth and development in the region.
