CANACONA: A resurgent Congress party hits the campaign trail on a promising note addressing its booth leaders from all 59 polling stations, even as Congress remained a divided force in Canacona on Thursday.
“This is just the beginning and even I was informed about today’s program late Wednesday evening as the programs and schedules are still in the set-up stage. We will bring everyone on board and it’s not only Congress but also all the I.N.D.I Alliance partners and together we will retain this congress bastion”, informed Lok Sabha Candidate Capt. Viriato Fernandes, when asked about the missing key congress leaders in the booth-leaders meeting in the presence of Congress Election Coordinator for South-Goa Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly Yuri Alemao.
Earlier, the congress team received by Canacona Congress Block President Abel Tome Borges and Congress (South) General Secretary Gaspar Coutinho, offered prayers and took the blessings of St. Thereza of Jesus Church, Chaudi and thereafter headed to Shri Mallikarjun Temple Shristhal, where congressmen led by Sidharth Gayak and others were present. Capt. Fernandes along with his accompanying team offered prayers in front of Lord Mallikarjun and took the priest’s blessings.
Replying to media candidate Capt Fernandes informed that BJP’s 400 par is a fake slogan to misguide the voters and BJP as an NDA is hardly crossing 230 seats in the Lok sabha elections.’ I.N.D.I.A is, however, getting a simple majority to form the next government at the Centre. Responding to the divided congress house in Canacona for the missing key congress leaders, Altone D’Costa, Yuri Alemao and Capt Fernandes seeking Canaconcar help to dethrone the cruel BJP government at the centre and bring back Congress informed today is just beginning and everyone including the INDIA partners are joining the campaign and congress is winning both Seats in Goa conformtably’.
Further stating BJP is out to sell Goa, Capt Viriato said ‘We Goenkars are not owners of our Goa to sell Goa, but we as custodians of our tiny State are indebted for our motherland and are bound to protect our State at all costs. I appeal to all our workers to work for the success of our Congress party, if you love and want to protect Goa for future generations’.,
The team then addressed a well-attended booth-level leader of the Congress party of all the 59 booths of Canacona constituency. Campaign in charge Altone D’Costa, LoP Yuri Alemao Congress (South) President Savio D’Silva, Ervile addressed. Canacona Congress Mahila President Ursila, Congress (South) General Secretary Gaspar Coutinho, and Block member Sidharth Gayak, were present on the dais as the brief meeting with the booth-level leaders was compared by Cananacona Block president Abel Borges. Simoes, joined the campaign trail, as all the leaders moved to Chaudi and entered many of the business establishments explaining INDI Alliance’s manifesto for the benefit of the people and the nation.
