PANAJI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) says it is pushing for positive campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections. Party candidates are getting overwhelming responses from the voters.
However, the party says, there is a need to dispel the misinformation being spread by the candidates of the opposition INDI alliance about North Goa candidate Shripad Naik.
“He has been an MP for 25 years. During his tenure as MP, about 1,200 projects have been sanctioned, of which 1,100 have been completed and 100 projects are in the final stages. In contrast, the Congress candidate has not won a single election on a Congress ticket in the last 25 years. How can a person who has never won get four MLAs elected? Adv. Ramakant Khalap should explain how much of the MPLADS fund was used for the people during his tenure,” asked BJP spokesperson Giriraj Pai Vernekar.
Ramakant Khalap and Capt. Viriato Fernandes have a similarity between them. One has sunk a bank and the other has sunk a party, said Shri. Vernekar.
Vernekar said that, though INDI Alliance members have charged that democracy is in danger, during the Congress government, which is an ally of the INDI alliance, the governments of various states were dismissed as many as 90 times using Article 356. Capt. Viriato Fernandes feels like there is a mini-emergency in the country right now.
“|But in reality, the Emergency was imposed on the country by his own Congress party’s former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi herself. Our leaders fought against the Emergency from jail. Indira Gandhi dissolved 50 state governments with the help of Article 356 during her tenure. The governments of regional parties were also dismissed around 40 times. Congress candidate and former Law Minister Adv. Ramakant Khalap must explain his stand on this issue,” demanded Vernekar.
Several leaders of the INDI alliance have also raised doubts about the judges and criticised the judiciary. However, one Valmiki Naik had signed the petition to stop the execution of convicted terrorist Ajmal Kasab. We want to know if he is the same as AAP Goa, asked Shri. Vernekar.
“Elements in the INDI alliance have been criticising the misuse of central agencies. However, the first complaint against the Chief Minister of Delhi Shri. Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam was filed by the Congress party itself. It is only under the BJP that further action is being taken on this scam. In its 103-page judgment, the court observed that Kejriwal had formulated a liquor policy in connivance with others,” he said.
Vernekar alleged that the money earned from the liquor scam was used for the campaign of Valmiki Naik, Venzy Viegas, Amit Palekar and other AAP leaders in Goa.
“Most of the parties in the INDI alliance are busy nurturing nepotism. Today, after Kejriwal was sent to custody, his wife has moved forward,” said Vernekar.
The Congress is only criticising the BJP. They should clarify their development issues. Today, leaders like Elvis Gomes and Vijay Bhike are alienated due to lack of unity and loyalty in the Congress. Francis Sardinha has also refused to campaign for Congress. On the contrary, he has said that he will campaign for Shripad Bhau, said Vernekar.
North Goa ZP President Siddhesh Naik said the BJP candidates are getting an immense response. Abki Baar 400 paar is certain, and it will include two seats from Goa. Capt. Virito Fernandes himself had once called AAP’s state convener “brokers”. There is no consensus in the Indi alliance, he said.
Naik also criticized Congress for its double standards. The Congress has changed the constitution 90 times. What’s more, Congress talks about secularism, but it never utters a single word when its allies insult Sanatana Dharma”, said Naik.
Mahila Morcha President Smt. Bandodkar appealed that the opposition should not mislead the Goan women. “While the BJP has implemented 33 percent reservation for women, it has given 50 percent reservation in Goa for the Lok Sabha elections”, she said. We can see that BJP candidates are getting a good response during their campaign, and the BJP will win both North & South Goa, added Bandodkar.
