MYSORE: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attacked the Karnataka Congress and predicted the arrival of a “double-engine” government shortly to lead the state toward growth.
“The Congress with its ‘Super CM’ and ‘Shadow CM’ will collapse after the elections and the BJP-JDS alliance will form a form of a double-engine government,” said Sawant.
Sawant believed that had the JDS and BJP formed a pre-poll agreement during the assembly elections, JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy would have been the chief minister.
He asserted that Goa has experienced complete progress since the double-engine government took office and that, during the previous 10 years, the federal government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched a number of welfare initiatives for the underprivileged.
“The BJP believes in ‘Vikas’ (progress), while the Congress practices politics based on caste. Because the grand old party is not development-oriented, people have rejected it, he remarked.
Sawant also invited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for a debate on development, saying Modi’s ten-year rule has achieved what the Congress couldn’t do in the past 50 years.
