Mumbai: Fresh details have emerged in the harassment case linked to Tata Consultancy Services’ Nashik unit, with investigators examining allegations of coercion, intimidation and attempts at religious conversion involving multiple accused.
According to officials, the primary accused, Nida Khan, is alleged to have tried influencing a survivor to change her religion and identity. The case includes charges of hurting religious sentiments and criminal intimidation. Given that the survivor belongs to a Scheduled Caste, provisions under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act have also been invoked.
Investigators claim that items such as a burqa and religious books were provided to the survivor, allegedly to influence her beliefs. Authorities have seized these materials and are attempting to trace their origin. It is further alleged that religious content was shared through mobile applications and social media links to reinforce the influence digitally.
Police sources indicate that the accused also attempted to pressure the survivor into changing her name and took possession of her educational documents. There are additional claims of contact with individuals outside the city to facilitate further actions linked to the case.
The investigation has also uncovered a possible overseas angle, where one of the survivors was allegedly offered a job opportunity in Malaysia under suspicious circumstances. Authorities are probing whether this was part of a larger plan to isolate or exploit the individual.
Another accused, Danish Sheikh, faces charges of sexual exploitation under false promises of marriage, while Tausif Bilal Attar has been booked for molestation and intimidation. Officials say threats and coercion were allegedly used to silence victims.
So far, several individuals have come forward with complaints, leading to multiple cases being registered. While several suspects are in custody, the main आरोपी remains absconding. Authorities are focusing on gathering digital evidence and financial links to establish the full scope of the alleged network.
