PONDA: The feast of the Saint Francis Xavier of Old Goa is being celebrated in the church premises today, on 3 December.
Hundreds of devotees from Karnataka and the neighbouring states of Maharashtra have arrived walking to attend this occasion.
Faith gives strength and makes it a happy journey, said, devotees.
Around 65 devotees reached Marcel church by walking 120-130 km from Khanapur, Sanghargari, and Belagavi in the padayatra yesterday night.
Former sarpanch and Panch Fansis arranged for their dinner and breakfast.
Father Vinoto and Father Custhalimba, on occasion, said that for the past 30 years the devotees from Belagaum areas had started this tradition of walking for the Old Goa Feast.
They started their walking journey on Nov 29 and reached here on 2 November. Now after celebrating the feast they return back to their native place.
