Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said that the new South Go district hospital will be commissioned as a COVID19 hospital by next Saturday.
Rane, who was on a inspection at South Goa district hospital, said that more arrangements need to be done before the hospital is commissioned.
“The doctor and health officials are working overtime to convert the hospital for COVID19 patients,” he said adding “some arrangements are left which will be completed by Friday and we will be ready to go by Saturday.”
On the controversy of private hospital, he said, it was not necessitated at this time.
“Our priority is fighting COVID19 and not private hospital. That can wait. If people do not want I have no ego but wait for now,” he said.
He said that the two floors of hospital has been designed for nursing institute and it cannot be used as hospital.
“Parents had demanded for a private medical college as it would bring in more seats if people do not want I have no issues. It will remain nursing institute,” he said.
