Margao: CQS Scoring Willows and Margao Royals registered resounding victories in the Goa GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament organised by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj on Sunday.
CQS Scoring Willows chased down the target of 144 set by Sinq Rangers for victory with the loss of eight wickets in 17.4 overs. Madgaon Royals defeated Mapusa Dream Crushers by 23 runs. In reply to Madgaon Royals’ 157 for 8, Mapusa Dream Crushers could only manage 134 all out. Both the matches were played at the MCC ground in Margao.
Sinq Rangers were 106/4 in 11.4 overs after CQS invited them to bat first. At least 160 runs were expected from them from this situation. Even then, the team was in trouble at 100 for 6. However, Varun Kudchadkar’s 36 off 22 balls made their victory a reality.
In the second match of the day, Madgaon Royals got to a good start thanks to openers Damodar Pai Patnekar (29) and Mahendra Audi (21) 52-run stand for first wicket. In the middle order, Sanat Prabhudesai scored 40 off 24 balls and Vikram Gaitonde scored 31 off 23 balls. This helped Margao Royals reach 157 for 8.
