CURCHOREM: Even as the State is under “Strict Curfew” from May 9, there has been no impact on the mining transportation as the business continues unabated.
While locals have to complete the shopping and be home, the trucks continue to wander till late evening.
A Curchorem local Gaberial Fernandes says the Mining transportation under Police protection is carried out and the common men’s voice of dissent is muzzled out.
“This is other side of government where you can see rule is differ when we see mining operation in state, there is no proper guidelines and protocol being followed by ore transporters, said Feranades.
Social worker and present councillor of Curchorem_Cacora municipality Balkrishan Hodarkar said there is a curfew declared by government for 15 days on Covid 19 situation in state but this curfew applies only for common men who follow rules and regulations of the government but on other side free hand is given to mining activities in some part of Goa, including Sanvordem.
“My appeal to the government of Goa to let us know what exactly is curfew? Why double standard treatment to people? It’s really hurts common man, Today we can see the situation every day some of Goan relatives, friends and family lose their lives fighting COVID. At least on humanitarian grounds everyone should follow rules. If situation continues like this, this will bring stress on government machinery,” Hodarkar added.
Shiv Sena South Goa district president Alexy feranades says that today government are using divide and rule policy between the Goans on Mining companies.
“When I think as Goan, we should be treated equal but today in some parts mining operation is going on and other side some truck owner keep vehicle at home because they don’t have work. It is totally disgusting situation for other side when we speak. We are mining dependents,” he said.
Alexy further added “I too have truck but because no work available, it stand outside home without business”.
State curfew has been declared by Goa government to control the spread of Covid 19, but situation like this cannot help State to overcome pandemic situation.
“If rules, law and regulations made for all then it should be followed by every citizen of Goa, there should not be special treatment or preference to some section of society,” Fernandes added.
