MARGAO: Curtorin Gymkhana entered into the semifinals of the 51st Custodio Memorial Football Tournament Org by Raia Sporting Club and played at Raia Panchayat ground defeating Navelim Sports Club 7-6 via tie-breaker.
Both teams gave their best in front of above 1500 spectators.
Joywin Carneiro of Curtorim Gymkhana was the star of the match with his quick moves and shooting power and for Navelim SC Travis Souza gave his best

Travis Souza’s long ranger failed to pop up into Curtorim’s net in the 9th minute. Then coach Arnald Costa of Curtorim put forward Joywin Carneiro which yielded results with
Jovwin Carneiro,s took a placement shot which cooly sailed into Navelim’s net in the tenth minute. Then Ronaldo Pereira of Navelim, ‘s power-packed shot hit the Curtorim post and went out of play in the 17th minute.
A tricky move by Joywin Carneiro if he didn’t sleep should have netted one more for Curtorim.
Navelim coach Aluxio Fernandes changed the game plan from the 20th minute by giving an extra task to Nash Pereira to control the midfield as well as frontline shooting the plan worked and Nash Pereira with a volley equalised for Navelim SC in the 24th minute. After Travis Souza of Navelim took a power-packed shot that was saved by Curtorim’s goalkeeper, this foxy move of Navelim, ‘s Nash Pereira placement shot made it 2-1 in the 43rd minute soon after that Joywin Carneiro of Curtorim,s taped ball was cleared to safety by Navelim goalkeeper.
A sudden move by Marcus Fernandes turn turnaround and shot made it 2-2 in the 46th minute.
In the resultant tiebreaker, Custom Gymkhana scored through Joy Hilario, Joywin Carneiro, Rhay Dias, Nickson Castanah and James Fernandes while Navelim Nash Pereira, Ronaldo Pereira, Aden Pereira and Valinton D’Silva found the net.
Dr Errol Rodrigues presented the Man of the Match award to Joywin Carneiro of Curtorim Gymkhana.
