PANAJI: Dayanand High School, Chorao defeated St. Aloysius High School, Diwar 1-0 to win the 7-a-side Football League Tournament, organised by Chodan Super School Complex, led by Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School, at Saude grounds, Chorao.
The tournament was sponsored by Pramod Salkar and Geeta Salkar, the tournament aimed to nurture sportsmanship and emphasize the importance of physical activities among students.
In the final match, Dayanand High School, Chorao defeated St. Aloysius High School, Diwar 1-0, securing first place. St. Bartholomew’s High School, Chorao claimed third place. Mast. Brijesh Nagvekar of Dayanand High School received both the Man of the Tournament and Man of the Final Match trophies.
Physical education teachers Mr. Rohan Naik, Mr. Pranav Banawalkar, and Mr. Bony Vales, along with Referee Chirag Kauthankar, were felicitated by the chief guest, Mrs. Geeta Salkar. The physical education teacher of Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar HSS and tournament coordinator, Mr. Jaganath Ghatwal, was also honored.
Mrs. Salkar urged students to work hard, stay dedicated, and invest their time and energy to excel in both sports and academics. She encouraged Physical Education teachers to teach new techniques and skills in passing, defending, forwarding, and goalkeeping.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Prashil Salkar, praised the students’ dedication, noting that they played with full commitment despite heavy showers. Mr. Premanand Mahambare, President of Chorao Educational Society, congratulated the students and emphasized the importance of football in skill-building and encouraged continued participation in sports.
Principal Mr. Sandeep Sawal welcomed the guests, and Teacher Luiza Pereira compered the prize distribution function and later proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Dilip Fondekar, General Secretary of Chorao Educational Society, Mr. Shankar Chodankar, Manager of Salkar HSS, and Mrs. Devika P. Salkar were also present.
