PANAJI: St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, St Joseph Vaz, Cortalim, Rosary College, Navelim, M.E.S. College, Zuarinagar, Shree Damodar College, Margao and Fr Agnel College, Pilar scored comfortable wins in the Goa University Inter Collegiate Football Championship 2022-23.
At Goa University Ground
In the first match of the day at Goa University Ground, St Joseph Vaz College, Cortalim registered a comfortable win over Goa College of Pharmacy, Panjim by a score of 3-0. All three goals came from Amit Naik in the 16th, 20th and 54th minute of the match.
In a second match of the day Rosary College, Navelim showed full domination over Goa College of Agriculture, Old Goa by a full-time score 10-0.
In the first half itself, Rosary College scored six goals of which three goals were scored by Sheldon Fernandes, two by Asmon Viegas and one by Aden Pereira. In the second half, Rosary College continued their dominance and netted another four goals which were scored by Ashvek Jadhav, Mevan Dias, Alvito Fernandes and Asmon Viegas
In the third match of the day, defending champions St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa registered an easy victory over Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi by a score of 5-0. Goal Scorer for St. Xavier’s College was one each goal by Sankalp Kankonkar and Rio Fernandes in the first half. In the second half, St. Xavier’s College scored another three more goals which were scored by Shaviz Khan, Rio Fernandes and Manjunath Chauvan.
At Rosary College Ground
The first match of the day saw a one-sided match wherein M.E.S. College, Zuarinagar defeated Goa College of Architecture, Althino 10-0. In the first half itself, M.E.S. College scored six goals of which four goals were scored by Jagdish Chawa and one each by Sangamesh Hosamani and Akshay Passic. In the second half, Rosary College continued their dominance and netted another four goals in which three goals were scored by Sangamesh Hosamani and one by Sailino Desa.
In the second match Shree Damodar College, Margao defeated Goa Multi Faculty College, Dharbandora by 2-0. End of the first half both the teams were equally placed with a score of 0-0. In the second half, two goals from Nayab Khan in the 49th and 58th minute sealed a victory for Shree Damodar College.
In the third match of the day, Fr. Agnel College, Pilar crushed to the next round by defeating Nursing Institute, Bambolim 5-0. In the first half Fr. Agnel College scored four goals which were scored by Shubert Borges, Kenny Rodrigues, Johonn Mesquito and Mohit Santondekar. In the second half, a goal from Vishesh Nasnodkar registered a victory for Fr. Agnel College.
