The Land Survey officials along with the mamlatdar of Sattari started the demarcation of the property for the IIT Goa project at Melauli, in Guleli panchayat.
A large crowd of hundreds of locals gathered at the spot as the officials continued their work.
The residents gave a written memorandum to joint mamlatdar Sanjeevini Satardekar for shifting of the project to some other place.
The villagers are up in the arms over the projects and lakhs of sq mt of land, which they claim rights on, has been allotted to IIT Goa.
The villagers claim that they have been cultivating the land for over five decades. However, the government says the land belongs to it.
