PORVORIM: WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar today informed the House that desiting work of major rivers including Mhadei and Valvanti to be taken up in January 2025 if needed.
“Desilting work of major rivers including Mhadei & Valvanti; survey of Valvanti to be taken up in Dec and desilting in Jan 2025 if needed,” said Shirodkar
WRD Min also attributes flooding to record rains this year.
“Near the Sanquelim Gandhara, the estimate for desilting of the river is being prepared. It will be taken up for implementation after monsoon,” informed Min Shirtodakr.
The Minister also informed that the Valvanti has not crossed the danger level of 6.20 mts in the last five years. The issue of inundation is reported in low-lying areas of Karapur villages, due to high tide and high water condition.
“There are no such reports of inundation of the houses, shops etc with the department,” he added.
