CANACONA: Poinguinim village is ushering in all-around developments, as Sarpanch announces the organisation of Bal-Gramsabha for the young children of Poingunim village.
Addressing media on the eve of the successful completion of 2 years in Office, Poinguinim Village Sarpanch Savita Ramesh Tawadkar flanked by Dy. Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar and four other panch members informed that the village is ushering in a series of developments worth crores of rupees since the new panchayat body formed two years ago(22nd Aug 2022).
Smt Tawadkar announced that Bal –Gramsabha on the lines of Gramsabha will be held for the children of Poinguinim village to understand and give first-hand feeling to the future generation of how Gramsabhas are responsibly held in the village. Children studying in Std 5th to 12th are eligible to participate in the Bal –Gramsabha to be held on 30th August’2024 at 10 am in the hall of Disaster Shelter Home at Welwada- Poinguiinim.
Smt Tawadkar informed that the Electricity department has carried out 5 major works worth over 57 Crores including installation of Transformers and Underground Cabling Works, and still more works are in the pipeline.. Works worth Rs.10.80 Cr were carried out PWD including roads, and culverts in Poinguinim village.
Briefing further Tawadkar informed that 22 lakhs worth of works are completed and another 45 lakhs worth of works are in process this year under the 15th Finance Commission in Poinguinim. Under GIA 79 lakhs of works are completed while 1.19 crore worth of works are in process.
Panchayat has already been approved and tendering is in progress for the Renovation and upgradation of Panchayat Ghar using the 40 lakhs of rupees from the 50 lakhs received by VP Poinguinim from a grant given by the government on completion of 60 years of Liberation of Goa.
Under the RDA two Community Halls were constructed at Muthal and Kolsor worth 1 Crore, while PWD (Water Supply) carried out works including the construction of Potkem Water and Pipeline worth over Rs. 1.90 cr.
11 lakhs of work are completed under MNERGA and another 11 thousand worth of work will be taken shortly.
SAG is expending Rs.,3.04 Crore to construct the Potkem grounds where 40% works are completed and the ground is expected to be ready in the next 6 months.
Tawadkar also informed that the panchayat funds have also increased manifold in the last two years by way of recovery of house tax, collection of fees such professional, licences, etc increasing the annual income from just 81 lakhs to 1. Cr in the first year and 1.24 cr in the second year.
Panchayat has also taken a giant step in plastic drives, community programs, and garbage collection and has engaged Paryay as part of garbage management and garbage collection. Presently we are collecting Dry waste from each of the households and soon we are also going to collect Wet gabrage after levying Rs.100 as Garbage collection tax.
Briefing on Panchcyat assets, Tawakdar informed that out of 20000 sqm of land at Potkem, 16,000 sqm is being used for the village ground under construction, panchayat project is being planned in the remaining 4000 sqm of land. Sanskruti Bhavanat Amone, Garbage site is set up in 5000 sqm. Sadolcem Community Hall is the other few assets of Poinguinim panchayat.
Smt Tawadkar stated substantial works are being carried out including Sadolxem Footbridge, Drainages, Culverts, roads, and strengthening of existing roads, said, it is solely made possible because of support and help extended by respective departments and the officers concerned besides the ministers and others.
Dy. Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, panch Satish Painginkar, Smt Asmita Joshi, Shilpa Prabhugaonkar and Govind Naik narrated the works carried out in respective wards. Three panch members Prashur Bhandari, John Barretto and Smt Rasika Velip however were not present.
Meanwhile, Canacona citizens have welcomed the move by Poinguinim Sarpanch to hold to Bal-Gramsabha in Poinguinim village as a positive step to apprise the upcoming generation of the pros and cons of the village functioning.
‘The Poinginim Panchayat has taken positive steps by arranging a well-organized session aimed at educating children about the principles of democracy and how to address societal issues effectively. The session can offer valuable lessons on articulating problems within a group setting in a constructive manner’ stated Canacona resident Samrat Bhagat on social media.
Another resident remarked ‘We extend a heartfelt welcome to the Sarpanch and the Panchayat Members for their exceptional efforts in organizing this insightful event.’
Interestingly, Poinguinim Sarpanch has also expressed her intentions to hold a Mahila Gramsabha, an all-women inclusive village conclave in future to bring forth and understand women-centric issues that need panchayat attention.
