RIBANDAR: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa State President Advocate Amit Palekar soon after getting interim bail in the Banastari accident case said that Goa Police are acting as a stooge of BJP government.
“I have full faith in the judiciary & I have been granted interim bail. Ultimately the court has to decide what happens thereafter. Goa Police are acting as a stooge of the BJP government,” said Adv Palekar.
He further said that it is shocking and unfortunate, that this was mostly done because I am the president of the AAP in Goa.
“This is being done to tarnish my image. I was pressured two days back to either join the BJP or face the consequences. This is absolutely dirty politics. I am being targeted. I have nothing to do with this,” he added
Palekar also denied any connection to the incident and accused the BJP of engaging in what he termed “dirty politics.”
He claimed that he was being unfairly targeted due to his decision to not join the BJP party.
He also alleged that he was offered to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a couple of days back, but he refused.
“I was told that ‘we will teach you a lesson if you don’t concede our request’,” he added.
Palekar went on to state that his arrest was a deliberate attempt to tarnish his reputation and labelled it as a form of political manipulation.
Palekar was arrested under Indian Penal Code section 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender).
Paresh Sawardekar, the accused was arrested after the Mercedes car he was allegedly driving in an inebriated condition on August 7 hit five vehicles in Banastarim village near Panaji, killing three persons.
