PANAJI: The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), in collaboration with the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), has launched Sankalp Manthan under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and AI-readiness among Goa’s students.
The initiative follows Sankalp Setu, a statewide hackathon where students developed solutions across seven key sectors. The top three teams from each participating college have advanced to Sankalp Manthan, where they are presenting their ideas to industry experts and receiving mentorship to refine their solutions.
The Tiswadi cluster was held on October 5 in the presence of IT Minister Rohan Khaunte and Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, while the Bardez and Pernem cluster was held on October 6 in the presence of Khaunte, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Deputy Speaker Joshua De Souza and Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, among others.
Addressing students, Khaunte said, “Our Goan students are key drivers for Viksit Bharat 2047. AI is no longer the future but the present and as students, you must learn to spot real-world problems, leverage the resources around you and be resilient.”
He said the government’s campus innovation scheme and upcoming AI policy would focus strongly on skilling and bringing opportunities directly to colleges.
The Tiswadi and Bardez-Pernem clusters featured panel discussions on youth innovation, along with sessions on AI, entrepreneurship, innovation and cybercrime awareness by industry experts and specialists.
Khaunte also highlighted Goa’s emergence as a workation destination and announced that the government will soon launch a dedicated pod station in Calangute.
The Sankalp Manthan series will next move to Ponda and Dharbandora; Bicholim and Sattari; Mormugao; and Salcete, Sanguem, Quepem and Canacona.
The initiative aims to provide Goa’s youth with mentorship and a platform to transform innovative ideas into impactful, scalable real-world solutions.
