Cuncolim – As it appeared that the Congress High Command could pacify the internal bickering & put to rest the ego clashes within senior leaders, it has come to light that the newly inducted members are now all out to harm the party.
The documents attached with the writ petition no. 1003 of 2021 filed in the Goa Bench of Mumbai High Court by one Sandhya Dessai challenging the municipal election process clearly exposes the hand of former Aam Aadmi Party convenor Elvis Gomes behind distabilising the democratically elected Congress backed panel in Cuncolim Municipality.
It may be noted that Congress managed to form the panel with absolute majority winning 9 out of 14 seats in the Cuncolim Municipal Council. Incidentally, Elvis Gomes was inducted in the Congress Party just a month back. The writ petition and the revealations have created uproar amongst the hardworking Congress functionaries.
The documents attached with the writ petition mentions at Page No. 25 about an “Exhibit F” which is an email sent to Director of Urban Development and State Election Commissioner by Elvis Gomes demanding review of Order of Reservation of Seats for Women in 11 Municipal Councils issued on 4th February 2021 under Judgement on Writ Petition 85/2021.
The Writ Petition is admitted by the Goa Bench of Mumbai High Court on 31st August 2021 and Notices dated 9th September are served on all concerned including the Councillors on 14th September 2021 returnable by 27th September 2021. It may be noted that Elvis Gomes had joined the Congress Party on 8th August 2021 almost 22 days before the said petition was admitted in the Court.
It is now to be seen whether the Congress Party wilk take any action or will turn a blind eye on it.
