PANAJI: Goa’s rising kickboxing talent Erica De Sequeira delivered an impressive performance on home soil by winning the Gold Medal in the K1 Fight under 50 kg category at the WAKO Goa State Championship 2026, held at the Ravi Naik Sports Complex. The championship brought together some of the state’s top fighters and was organised by the WAKO Kickboxing Association Goa.
Representing the Academy of Combat Sports Goa, Erica emerged as champion in her category after displaying determination, discipline, and strong fighting skills throughout the tournament. Her victory added another major achievement to her growing career and brought recognition to her academy as well as Goa’s kickboxing circuit.
Apart from securing the state title, Erica also received special appreciation from the organisers for her exceptional achievement at the Khelo India National Championship, where she had earlier won a Gold Medal. Her performance at the national event was regarded among the standout displays of the tournament, further strengthening her reputation as one of the promising young athletes in the sport.
Erica has been training under Coach Ronnyy, whose consistent guidance and professional coaching have played a major role in her development as a competitive fighter. His support and training methods have helped her perform successfully at both state and national competitions.
Speaking after her achievement, Erica thanked her coach, parents, academy, supporters, and well wishers for standing by her throughout her journey. She said the victories have encouraged her to continue training harder and aim for greater success in future national and international competitions.
Her latest accomplishment highlights the growing strength of kickboxing talent emerging from Goa and is expected to inspire more young athletes to pursue the sport seriously.
